Microsoft to take on Netflix with Xbox Originals

Xbox Originals

Microsoft has been pushing for Xbox to become something more than just gaming, to that end the company has announced a full slate of original videos that it’s branding Xbox Originals. The initial lineup of the Xbox originals seems to be a little bit of everything starting with a live broadcast of Bonnaroo on June 13th.

Microsoft’s 2014 lineup also includes a reality show about soccer players and a six part documentary series about technology. This past weekend filming of the debut episode took place, The episode focuses on a long time urban legend at Atari burry truckloads of the infamous E.T. game in a New Mexico landfill. And well yes the myth is true.

Microsoft first announced plans to create shows for the Xbox last year along with a long action HALO series. Unfortunately there were no updates about that. Compared to Netflix and Amazon microsoft is opening things up with an ambitious and diverse quality of shows but of course the company has a big ground to cover and to compete from shows like the house of cards.
